About This Item

Stuttgart und Leipzig: Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt, 1904. Hardcover. Very Good. Second edition. 275pp., [4pp.] advertisements. Frontispiece portrait of Albrecht v. Stosch. Text in German. Decorative mauve cloth stamped in gilt, black and two-tone gilt, gray marbled endpapers, top edge gilt. Front hinge cracked, spine ends and corners lightly rubbed and bumped, a very good copy with embossed stamp and name penned on preliminary pages of a well-known American military historian and collector, Jay Luvaas. Also, being Hans Joachim von Loebell's copy with his name neatly inked on the half-title page. Hans Joachim von Loebell was the son of Friedrich Wilhelm von Loebell (with his letter contribution on page 251) who was a German politician and from 1914 to 1917 Prussian Minister of the Interior. This is a biography in letters of Albrecht von Stosch, the Prussian minister of state from 1872 to 1883, and was the first chief of the newly founded imperial admiralty as general of the infantry. A nice association copy.
