Ad I and II: Wing D 909. First edition. First book with a second title-leaf bound in front with strongly differing wording, but same imprint "The deliverance of the whole house of Israel, from all their captivities in their enemies lands, uuto (!) their owne countrie, and inheritance promised the fathers. And of the estate of rest, peace, and prosperity, they are to have in the same. As it is foreshewed in the II. chap. of Saint Paules Epistle to the Romans, and in the 20. chap. of the Revelation written by Saint John, and sundry other places of scripture, and sayings of the Prophets. Written for the information of the children, of the spouse of the lambe, which yet remaine, and are to be gathered unto her, and for their edification and comfort, until the Lord shall come in his glory, when the kingdome shall be restored to Israel, and the restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy Prophets since the world began, shall be accomplisht according to his word". Both works are scarce, with ESTC locating only two holdings in the United Kingdom. Although not explicitly stated, the first work is likely to have some connection with the Dutch champion of the Jewish diaspora, Manasseh ben Israel, whose advocacy of the readmission of the Jews into England attracted much interest and debate amongst Protestant theologians of the period. Added title-leaf to first book backed in lower margin, just touching border. Ad III: Wing H2527 (variant collation 106 pages). BL has a copy with matching collation to our copy of 95 pages. Last leaf backed in outer margin, intermittent waterstaining.
