James Storer was one of the most prolific 19th-century authors of books on the history of cathedrals and abbeys. One such work was his 'Delineations of Fountains Abbey'. Fountains Abbey is one of the most impressive English cathedrals, founded in 12th-century Yorkshire, was known for housing the plot against King Henry VIII, setting for the Dissolution of the Monasteries.

Storer's account of Fountains contains a written history as well as absolutely exquisite full-page engraved views of the cathedral ruins.
