About This Item
IMPLEMENTING THE GENERAL AMNESTY IN 1849
[Mexican American War] Juan Mugica y Osorio. Decree. Puebla: Imprenta de Macias. 1849. One sheet, letterpress 32 cm. Signed in type: Juan Mùgica and Jośe Maria Fernandez, secretario. Very good, with some worm holes and bleed through of writing on the verso.
OCLC show no holdings for this decree. In the aftermath of the Mexican American War, a number of armed rebellions against the central government occurred, including ones led by former President Paredes y Arrillaga, along with other insurrectionists such as Cosió, Jarauta, Doblado, and Negrete, who opposed the peace treaty with the U.S. In 1849 Congress under President Herrera issued a general amnesty against the insurrectionists. Here the decree references the provisions of the general amnesty and sets out the specifics for groups to take advantage of it. Interesting details for the recovery in the aftermath of the loss in the war with the U.S.Reviews
