"Dimitrije Sidjanski grew up in Belgrade , studied law there and at the Sorbonne in Paris and worked as a lawyer in Yugoslavia . After the German invasion of Yugoslavia he came in 1942 German prisoner of war , from which he was able to flee to Switzerland shortly before the end of the war. There he began writing short stories and novels.1949 he met his wife Brigitte (* 1931) , with whom he initially emigrated to the US , had five children and in 1961 the North-South publishing house in Gossau in the canton of Zurich founded. The clown said no with illustrations by the Swiss glass painter Gian Casty, which he exhibited as the only book of his publishing house at the Frankfurt Book Fair and was thus successful. In 1979, Sidjanski retired from the publishing house to devote herself entirely to writing as Mischa Damjan.
