About This Item
New York: Pantheon Books, 1945. First Edition. Octavo, pp. 493, [1]. Quarter red cloth over black cloth boards, top edge stained black, in the rare price-intact, dust jacket, with illustration by E. McKnight Kauffer. Inscribed on the front free endpaper to "Katherine [McKenty] Bryan With all good wishes for a splendid summer in spite of this book. Hermann Broch, June 1945". Pantheon Books' Compliments Card with the signature of Kyrill Schabert, one of the founders, loosely inserted. Lightly shaken, upper front corner slightly bumped, spine a tad faded. Still, a nice inscribed copy in the rare dust jacket. Housed in a very good custom-made clamshell box with black-stamped leather spinestrip and marbled sides.
