In this book the author recounts the death of an aunt by marriage of the Sanchez family that he first introduced to readers in his book "The Children of Sanchez." In this book, as seen through the eyes of Roberto, Manuel and Consuelo, we see the death, wake and burial of Guadalupe  from even a poorer slum of Mexico City called the vecindad.
