About This Item

Chapmans, 1992. 1st edition. Hardcover. Very fine in very fine dustjacket, a really superb copy of the author's first novel featuring Commissario Guido Brunetti. Donna Leon says she was in La Fenice Opera House one day when she sudenly thought what a good idea it would be for a conductor to be found dead there - 'so I wrote the book, just to see if I could'. And Brunetti has been on fine form ever since then.

OK, I admit, this one I put down. After about 30 pages, it just wasn't catching my interest and with so many great books lying around waiting for me to read, I just couldn't see wasting my time on one that didn't interest me. Oh well.
