A little fraying to the ends of the spine, gift inscription dated Christmas 1891 on first blank page. . Early printing. The story of a sweet and trusting little girl - culminating in a dramatic trial with her father as the defendant. Illustrated by the author with a frontispiece and 6 attractive inserted plates. Miss Plympton, in fact, is perhaps better known as an illustrator than as a writer, although there was a sequel to this book called 'Dorothy and Anton' and the back of the book contains an advertisement for another book written and illustrated by Plympton: 'Betty, A Butterfly.' Floral endpapers. 190 pp.
