When Harry Truman met Bess Wallace in 1890 in Sunday School, he knew, as he said years later, that she would be his life's love--and she was. Theirs was one of the most durable marriages of the century, of those ones hears about. They wrote to each other almost daily and Bess kept most of Harry's letters. His life unfolds in his letters to Bess. Photographic in-text b/w illustrations. The book is bound in blue half cloth with gilt outlined title panel on spine, gilt titled within, blue paper-wrapped boards. Very clean with silght wear to spine heel. Tight, solid and square, with sharp corners. Rough cut on fore edge and lower edge. Lower edge of text black has pale stamp. Frontis: Harry and Bess. Internals are very clean and free from any markings, no creasing. Blue and white clean jacket with photographs of Harry and Bess on front and back, chipped spine heel and upper front corner, llght wear to spine head and other corners. Clear archival protective jacket cover. 593 pages with index. 6.5 x 1.75 x 9.5 inches. W W Norton & Co Inc, USA, 1983.
