Walter Satterthwait (1946 - 2020) was an author of mysteries and historical fiction. His first novel, Cocaine Blues, appeared when he was thirty-three. He wrote several historical mysteries with intriguing situations, including a surprising visit to the American West by Oscar Wilde in Wilde West. This historical fiction mystery "is a look back at the life of a real flapper-era socialite [Emily Vanderbilt] and her ladie's-man- hard-boiled-pulp-writer husband, burning the candle at both ends and in the middle, spending a fortune during what the rest of the country was experiencing as the Great Depression and paying the ultimate price for their follies."--from the dust jacket.
