About This Item

New York: Coward, McCann & Geoghegan, Inc., 1973 WYSIWYG pricing--no added shipping charge for standard shipping within USA. Full black cloth, gilt titles on spine & facsimile signature on front board, pictorial endpapers, 512 pp, notes, bibliography, index. Small repaired tear (or perhaps cut) to cloth on top edge of front board, bookplate on ffep, else fine. DJ lightly rubbed; in Brodart archival cover. Presumed first edition based on no additional printings listed, use of SBN rather than ISBN, lack of reviews on DJ. Later reprints are fairly common, but this edition is scarce. From the DJ: "...this gifted young historian re-creates the social, political, and economic texture of those times. Those days of sadness and years of triumph ... witnessed a silent social revolution--the most profound and enduring alteration since the War for Independence in the fabric and direction of American life." Shipping weight 3 lbs.. . 23½ X 16 cm.
