A former owner's name on the top right of the front free endpape o/w NO Inscriptions or Marks. A VERY little light foxing (light brown spotting) to the page fore-edges. 317 pp. Illustrated with 6 b/w plates. Overall, apart from the lack of a dustjacket, this is an Excellent Very Clean, Tight and Bright Near 'As New' copy. "The Reverend David Rees (1801-1869) was a Welsh Congregational Minister of 'Capel Als' Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, & an editor of a radical Welsh language Nonconformist periodical entitled 'Y Diwygiwr' (The Reformer). He was best known for his nickname ‘Y Cynhyrfwr’ (The Agitator) , his firm political views, and his opposition to the relationship between the Established Church and the state. ..." . "In Rees’ own account in the 1851 Religious Census, his chapel was nearly always full for the Sunday night service, with the numbers present calculated to be around 850 most Sundays...."
