About This Item

Milwaukee, WI: Bruce Publishing Company, 1952. 8vo size blue clothbound hardcover with dust jacket; 366 pages. The inside fold of the jacket has been clipped and attached to rear endpage. There is a frontispiece and black and white photographs on glossy stock. From jacket flap: "Walsh's rise to prominence has an air of Abraham Lincoln's life about it. Born into a poor Irish-immigrant family,he became he first Catholic and first Democrat ever elected governor of Massachusetts and was the only Catholic ever elected as a United States senator from that Yankee New England state (at the time of this book's publication). He was a deeply devoted Catholic with a peerless record for integrity and complete dedication to his country." Ex-library with typical treatments, a Reading Copy with much wear. Worn corners and wear to top and bottom. Jacket covered with mylar and is creased underneath mylar. Pastedowns are firm, but binding feels shaken. Soil to outside pages. We noted marginalia and/or underlining on two page and on rear endpage and small stains in the margins of pages 297/298, 309-312. Pages 79-86 are lightly creased. Tape used to hold on jacket has caused tanning transfer on several pages. Thanks for shopping with us. 100% of your purchase benefits charity and supports literacy and life-long learning.. Cloth. Acceptable/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.
