First English Edition; Cr. 4to; pp. [iv], 194; diagrams, index of openings, index of opponents, original illustrated slick boards, corners bumped, name on endpaper, good copy. This edition is a translation of "Improvizatsiya V Shakhmatnom Iskusstve" published in 1976 by Fizkultura i Sport. The author describes Bronstein's meteoric rise to the chess heights, and with the help of 28 remarkable games reveals the special nature of his highly original style. Then Bronstein himself annotates all the games from his dramatic 1951 match with Botvinnik, in which he came within an ace of winning the World Championship.
