Worthington, 1892.Large octavo, early edition, pp. xii, 13-740, maroon cloth boards with gilt lettering and illustration to spine and front, illustrated from photographs. Campbell, a journalist and reformer, wrote extensively on New York's poor, the garment industry and exploitation of women (see Feminist Companion, Yale). Her use of photography was in striking similarity to that of Jacob Riis, but she never published the photos themselves.Condition of this book:Spine ends worn, fraying; various minor discolorations to covers. Both hinges cracked, clean. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Spine working loose but still intact.
