About This Item

Suttonhouse, 1938-01-01. Hardcover. Good. 1938 signed first edition, Suttonhouse / Bookhaven Press - Kellaway-Ide Company (Los Angeles, California), 5 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches tall beige cloth hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, red lettering to front cover and spine, ix, [2], 255 pp. Very slight soiling, rubbing, edgewear and marginal toning to covers. Nicely signed by the author, Walter Clemow Lanyon (1887 - 1967) in both his given name and pseudonym, Hugo Tresunngar, on the blank front free-endpaper. New York Times review of book on publisher's stock tipped onto next blank front free-endpaper. Bookhaven Press - Kellaway-Ide Company label to bottom margin of title page and dust jacket, over printed Suttonhouse identification. Otherwise, apart from slight age toning, a very good copy - clean and unmarked - in a mildly stained, chipped and age-toned dust jacket which has a couple of one-inch edge tears, but which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. Uncommon. Said by the author to be 'incidents in the life of Robert J. Ashby, I.S.O., police superintendent in India, based on his notes and service records.' ~SP36~ Lanyon was the author of more than 40 books on New Thought spirituality. In addition to this book, he is credited with two light operas as well as several secular stories, plays and articles.
