About This Item
The Macaulay Company, 1929. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Full grey-blue cloth boards with silver lettering & decoration, under pictorial dust jacket designed by Louis Lozowick, 8-1/4" tall, 274 pp. Short split to endpapers at front hinge, dust jacket has light chipping to top edges and spine ends, split (no loss) at front joint. Still an attractive copy. In our modern world of AI-generated content, the opening of the dust jacket blurb is prescient: "American life has become so mechanized that even American art has become Robotized in the process. Everywhere the machine standardizes, while individual genius decays." Lozowick's industrial DJ showing three identical typists beneath a cog is a brilliant adaptation of the theme.
