About This Item

London, George Allen & Unwin, 1926.. Seventh impression 1926, (first published in 1885), small 8vo, 185 x 125 mm, 7¼ x 5 inches, orange wrappers over stiff card, repeat illustration on upper cover, 20 pages. 4 line illustrations by Greenaway to 4 Ruskin verses, the other 18 woodcuts reproduced from the 1823 edition. All illustrations half-page. Spine very slightly faded, some inner joints cracked but binding firm, tiny neat name on front endpaper. A near Fine copy. Apart from the binding this is an exact replica of the first edition of 1885. Greenaway's drawings were mere sketches (pages 3, 4, 8 and 9), but Ruskin felt they needed no improvement and suited his verses, in their unfinished state (see Schuster 64, page 52). MORE IMAGES ATTACHED TO THIS LISTING, ALL ZOOMABLE, FURTHER IMAGES ON REQUEST. POSTAGE AT COST.
