London: Heinemann, 1961.. First edition. 8vo. (xii), 211, (1) pp. Publisher's red cloth, gilt lettered to the spine, dust jacket, not price clipped. Black and white illustrations, mostly photographic. Slight spine slant, jacket a little worn to the edges and slightly sunned to the spine, else very good. Dame Sibyl Mary Hathaway (née Collings, 1884-1974), was the daughter of the previous Seigneur of Sark William Frederick Collings, ascending to the title of Dame of Sark on his death in 1927. The book provides her account of her early life and tenure as the feudal controller of the island, including its turbulent during the Second World War when it was occupied by German troops.
