About This Item
Tokyo: Asahi Shinbun-Sha, 1942].. 4to. (8), 160 pp. Publisher's cream boards with blue, brown and silver lettering and decoration, map endpapers, photographically illustrated dust jacket, colour illustrated card slipcase. Black and white photographic illustrations throughout. Cracking to the joints though they remain sound, jacket and slipcase both fragile and very worn with losses, the former with a few tissue reinforcements on the verso. Produced in the early years of the Pacific theatre of the Second World War and illustrating Japanese servicemen. The spine is numbered "1", suggesting further instalments were intended but these apparently never came to fruition, possibly as the tide of the war started to move against Japan.
