About This Item
Gainesville, Florida: University Press of Florida, 1995. 1st Edition, 1st Printing . Hardcover. New/New. At the request of this bookseller, Frank Laumer signed, inscribed and dated this volume on the half title page as follows: "For James Lasseter,/with best wishes./ Frank Laumer (quite a signature)/ Talisman 13 Jul '02/" On the dedication page the author dedicates this work as follows: "To my wife, my friend, /Dale Anne Laumer/". Underneath this, again at the request of this bookseller, it is signed, placed and dated by the author's wife as follows: "Dale Anne Laumer/Dade City, Florida/7/13/02/". Number line in the work reads as follows: 00 99 98 97 96 95 6 5 4 3 2 1. Volume itself has beautiful blue cloth covers with sharp silver lettering on the spine. 285 pages, including an index and a bibliography. The writer of the foreword of the book, John K. Mahon states, "There does not exist a more vivid, but at the same time historically accurate account of a single action in U. S. military literature." Unfortunately, Frank Laumer passed away in November 2019, and Florida and the nation has lost its foremost authority on the 2nd Seminole War. Fortunately, the words and actions that took place during that time can still come alive to us in the author's books. A one of a kind, collector's copy, that hopefully some Florida history buff will treasure as I have treasured it. Available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box!
