LONDON: T.FISHER UNWIN, 1890 Grey Cloth bevel edged boards with gilt and black blocked titles and images to spine and front. 265 x 220 mm approx. [vi] + 146 pp. 14 stories including title of which 8 illustrated in line by Edward W Kemble. First UK Edition 1890. Please see our images of the actual book offered for sale for further details and condition. Good no d/j (Book - Restoration work. The book was bought in by us dis-bound and has been re-sewn on two tapes with new mull' back strip and best match book cloth with remnants of original cloth spine laid on. New plain end papers and some cleaning to original heavily soiled boards which show heavy shelf wear to corners with boards exposed at tips. Pencil previous owner name and name of presenter in appropriate boxes. A book very much of it's day and the subject matter is now regarded as non p.c. if not offensive but which was clearly a favorite and much read as evidenced by finger soiling to margins throughout. No other notable defects).
