Ann Arbor: George Wahr, Publishers, 1924. First edition thus. Hardcover. Very Good without dust jacket. Duodecimo (small book) . Slight wear to edges and corners of boards.Top corner bumped. 105 p. w/ b&w photographic illustrations from University of Michigan stagings of the play. A somewhat uncommon work from the press of Geoge Wahr, local Ann Arbor publisher and bookseller. An edited editon of one of Goldoni's popular comedic plays (orig. Un curioso accidente, 1760), fitted for performance by classes at the University of Michigan, based on the 1892 English edition by Zimmern. Goldoni was an 18th c. Italian playwright who created some of Italy's most-recognized and enjoyed plays. The play is the story of a poor French lieutenant, a Dutch merchant's daughter, mistaken identity, and elopement.
