About This Item
53-65 pages with tables and bibliography. Royal octavo (9 1/4" 6") bound in original publisher's wrappers. Ethnology Volume IV, Number 1 complete issue. First edition. The purpose of this paper is to conceptualize cultural change as a dynamic process, not simply as a succession of structural states. The first step in this procedure is to recognize the need to consider not only what changes take place but also how they come about. To understand how a change occurs we must first understand the ongoing processes by which a culture is maintained. Recent discussions of social structure and of cultural change suggest some points of departure for this analysis. Condition: Edge wear, corners bumped and creased, spine ends bumped, previous owner's name to front wrapper verso else very good.
