About This Item
C & M. Norfolk, Va., 1951 Book size about 8 1/2 by 11 inches with some 90 or so unnumbered pages. Bound in gilt lettered and decorated blue cloth. Illustrated end papers including the ship symbol 'Mighty Minnie' which was authorized by Disney Studios. Usual cruise book format with tons of photos showing activities, crew, officers, sites visited, etc. This cruise covered the St. Lawrence River as far as Quebec and the Mediterranean Sea. The Mindoro was a 'jeep carrier', smaller and slower than the main aircraft carriers, and served as an escort ship. Crew of about 600 versus the large carriers with their crew size of around 4,000. An exceedingly scarce cruise book of a ship type which no longer exists. Light wear. A clean and unmarked book.
