Crotch Island, Stonington, ME: Planned Total Environment, Publisher, 1974. Wraps. Good. Illustrated wraps. 84 pp. Black and white photos and illustrations throughout. First, and perhaps only, issue of this journal issued by members of an intentional/experimental community planned on Crotch Island in Stonington, Maine. The group planned on using the community to learn about the effects of environment on behavior, and to apply what was learned to the design of research dwellings. They also planned on using a variety of alternative energy. The first part of the journal discusses their goals and plans, as well as difficulties encountered in the establishing of the community. Sections on psychoarchitecture, earthworm technology, microfarms and the scope of the struggle are included, as well as a history of the island and granite quarrying. WIth many photos. GOOD condition. Heavy browning along the extremities. Minor soiling, scuffing and curling. Light toning in the interior.
