Olive cloth binding with gilt decoration and titles, leather paste-on labels, top edge gilt. Rough-cut pages. Five-volume set, complete. Edinburgh Edition, The Works of Thomas Carlyle (Volumes XXVI, XXVII, XXVIII, XXIX, XXX). Frontispiece in each volume, protective tissue, plus two plates. Very nice reading copies. Volume I: 524 pp., spine label rubbed off. Volume II: 507 pp., spine label rubbed off, Volume III: 496 pp., spine label rubbed but legible, Volume IV: 501 pp., wear to spine label, Volume V: 386 pp. including index, spine label rubbed off, some fading to boards. All books appear to have been little-read, usual library markings, very good condition..
