London: Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans, 1844. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 9" by 6". None. A complete set of Thomas Babington Macaulay's critical and historical essays. Three volumes. A collection of critical and historical essays, originally published for the Edinburgh Review, some of which include: 'Milton', 'Machiavelli', 'Horace Walpole', 'Lord Bacon', 'Lord Hollan' and 'Leigh Hunt'. Written by Thomas Babington Macaulay, a British historian and Whig politician, who served as the Secretary at War between 1839 and 1841, and as the Paymaster-General between 1846 and 1848. With University College London award plate to the front pastedown, dated 1844. Bound in full calf with marbled endpapers, pastedowns, and edges. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Volume II joints starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Very Good Indeed
