The author was born in Bombay and now lives in Vancouver BC. He is the author of two full-length plays of which the second, Manja's Circus, was commissioned by the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. He has been featured in Quill & Quire as one of a handful of young Canadian "writers to watch". This, his first novel, is set in Bombay where the protagonist searches for his severed arm Clues lead him to an underworld figure named Baba Rakhu, who gradually reveals the story of the lost arm with a new way to understanding suffering in the world. Synopsis

ANOSH IRANI is the author of the acclaimed novels The Song of Kahunsha , a finalist for Canada Reads and the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize in 2007, and his recently published novel, Dahanu Road . His play Bombay Black won four Dora Mavor Moore Awards in 2006 including for Outstanding New Play, and he was nominated for the 2007 Governor General's Award for The Bombay Plays: The Matka King and Bombay Black .
