About This Item

UK,12mo HB+dw/dj,1st edn. [A lifelong cricket fan,in 1980 he was founder publisher of the Cricketers' Who's Who (Green Umbrella) which celebrated its 43rd anniversary in 2022.This edn is the second of that series.] NFINE/FINE-. No owner inscrptn and no price-clip to dw/dj.Bright,crisp, clean, glossy laminated,wrap-around green background with colour pictorial silhouetted batsman illustrated front of dw/dj,with capitalised,white-lettered title, author name and Introduction for IAN BOTHAM credit; spine/backstrip with similarly coloured+lettered title includes year date, rear panel with black-lettered bullet point synopsis within a paler green panel.Negligible shelf-wear,bumping, creasing to edges and corners - both lower corners with minimal laminate peel/curl but still in situ, and both panels with faint, superficial scoring/indents without penetration to boards beneath - and no major nicks, tears or splits present. Top edges with slight thumbing/grubbing at head of spine area and minimal other blemish but still bright, fore-edges with some similar thumbing/grubbing and minor foxing/spotting; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and sound - near pristine - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips.Publisher's bright, crisp, unblemished, sharp-cornered,original plain dark green cloth boards with bright, crisp, blocked silver gilt lettering to spine, and immaculate plain white endpapers.UK,12mo HB+dw/dj,1st edn,5-410pp [paginated] includes author's Preface,an Introduction by Ian Botham with a b/w action sports photograph of him to reverse of first page of same,an A-Z of players entries with accompanying b/w portrait photograph and statistics for each player; plus [unpaginated] half-title+title pages, and to the rear,a single page b/w illustrated advert for WISDEN CRICKET MONTHLY. Visually the exterior appearance is more than acceptable, and particularly internally, the book is also in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation for a book of its 40+ year-old age. It is only the minimal, minor exterior faults described that prevents a slightly higher overall grading.Despite them,it really is still an exceptional example for its brightness and lack of major detracting faults. This year's new edition is even more comprehensive then before - the first, debut volume was 1980.Packed with essential information for all followers of cricket. Facts, figures and photographs that are collected nowhere else.Full biographical and personal details about today's County cricketers.Plus their views on what's wrong - and right - with the game.Hundreds of individual photographs of the current players. The only work of reference to give complete statistics for today's cricketers in every County cricket competition - batting, bowling and wicket-keeping. A long and fascinating introduction by the Captain of England himself,Ian Botham. The ideal companion for cricket-watching - whether on TV or at the cricket ground.
