Caldwell, ID: The Caxton Printers, Ltd, 1949. Hardcover. Foreword by Sherwood Anderson. Small 4to. Grey cloth with brown and ivoery lettering and brown/ivory pictorial stamping. 417pp. Frontispiece, illustrations, diagrams, music notation, pictorial endpapers. Very good. Binding a bit edgeworn and rubbed; nonauthorial gift inscription on front flyleaf. Revised, later (11th) printing of this superbly-illustrated classic, first published in 1939. Educator Shaw (1890--1958) singlehandedly brought about a revival in square dancing in America with this and similar titles.
