Nobel prize-winning author André Gide's work has been described as a novel within a novel, with many characters and complicated cross-plots. First published in France as "Les Faux-Monnayeurs" in 1925. This Modern Library reprint edition translated from the French by Dorothy Bussy, and with an introduction by Raymond Weaver. --- In Toledano spine 8 / red cloth / gilt titling on black spine & cover blocks / black topstain / grey Kent endpapers / volume lacks the dust jacket. Likely published c.1945 (though 1931 date appears in book).
