About This Item
London: Robert Hale, 1956. First edition. Cloth. Fine/Very Good Indeed. 7.5" by 5". None. A first edition of this novel attributed to B Traven. B Traven was the pen name of a novelist whose real name, nationality and details of biography are unknown. Little is known of the author aside from the fact he spent many years in Mexico where this book is set. While there are manyy theories as to the true identity of B Traven, nothing has been conclusively proven. It is widely believed that Traven is Ret Marut, a German stage actor and anarchist, however Marut denied being Traven, and remains only the best guess. In a black cloth binding in the unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, in lovely condition. Boards are slightly cocked. Dustwrapper smart with some light chipping and very slight loss to the head of the spine. Handling marks to the wraps and spotting to the inside of the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean aside from the odd marginal spot. Fine
