The third Pacific voyage, which began in 1776, took Cook and his crew around New Zealand and Hawaii. On this trip, Cook became well acquainted with the King of Hawaii, Kalani-opu'u. After spending time in the South Pacific, Cook also took his ship northward to the Aleutian Islands reaching to the Arctic Circle. In mid-16th-century Italy, architects and engravers took a great interest in the Ancient Roman ruins found throughout Rome. Two such figures were Giovanni Cavalieri and Giovanni Dosio. Cavalieri, a well-known engraver, began engraving the Dosio's illustrations of the most iconic Roman locations. These engravings were published in 1569 under the title 'Urbis Romae' and were immensely popular – curiously, another edition was never published!
