About This Item
A Paris Chez Janet [ De l'Imprimerie de Richomme, rue Saint-Jacques, No. 67; no date] [1822]. Small 8vo (in 4s), 112 x 73 mms., pp. [iv], viii, 188, including half-title, folding calendar for year 1822 at end of text, engraved title-page with fruit basket in colour, 12 full-page engraved and hand-coloured plates of various fruits, attracstively bound in green silk, with ornate gilt borders and ornately gilt spine, all edges gilt. A fine copy, contained within a slipcase with matching binding (a little worn). The engravings are sometimes signed plates are signed "P[cancrace]. Bessa pinxt." No copy for this year traced, but OCLC finds 11 copies for the year 1818 (Cornell, Morgan, Delaware, Hawaii, Newberry, Harvard, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, University of Texas Dallas; Neufchatel), Bibliotheque National et Univ Neufchatel; and one for 1817 in Oak Spring Garden Library in Virgina.
