New York: Harper & Brothers, 1946. First edition [1946]. Compelling narrative of the author's experiences in the World War II Pacific Theatre, with the book dedicated to those who fought on the island of Peleliu. Black cloth printed in gilt and coral, no dustjacket. Some edge rubbing, coral colored section on the spine somewhat faded, good hinges, sound text block, name and 1946 date on front free endpaper, no other markings. What remains of the dustjacket - the rear panel with the author's portrait - is laid in loosely at the front.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
