A Modern Library Giant edition offering the complete text of two of William Prescott's famous histories in a single hefty volume. The 19th Century American historian overcame blindness to become pre-eminent in his field; these works represent high points in his career. With a smallish map of each conquered land. --- In Toledano spine G5 / pale green cloth / gilt titling on green cover & spine blocks / blank GA style endpapers / green topstain / jacket style Ge, verso advertises titles in ML catalog, but no total number. Likely published c.1957 (no publication date appears in book). ML #G29.1. --- A weakened front hinge has been carefully reinforced prior to this listing, and with dampstains to front endpapers, slight soiling to cover, else a sound copy. Fair-only jacket with large open tear to front panel, other chafing and chipping to extremities, and some dampstains; protected in removable archival mylar protector. (Due to the considerable weight of this item, extra shipping charges may be requested.); Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; xxxvi, 1288, [2] pages .
