New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1907. Second printing, 1907. Comprehensive history of the river, illustrated throughout with black and white plates. Thick volume in dark blue cloth lettered in gilt, black and white illustration mounted on front cover, frontis engraving in sepia tones, 487 pages plus ads, folding map (torn). Covers rubbed at the extremities, some light puckering to spine cloth, good hinges (front hinge neatly internally reglued), sound text block, clean pages with the name of Ruth Loring Whitman on the front free endpaper, no other markings. The map is cleanly torn across a horizontal fold line, no paper loss.. Hard Cover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
