About This Item
New York: Hurst & Co., 1909. Reprint. . Hardcover. Very Good-/No Jacket. Bound in beige cloth with titles and decorations in gray and black. 258 pages. Originally designed as a rewrite of the first book in this series, "Comrades on the Farm" (Chatterton-Peck, 1908), the story actually turned out to be only a bit similar in plot and action. The original of this title was issued by A. L. Chatterton in 1910, although this copy shows a copyright by Platt & Peck, the successor firm to Chatterton, in 1909. This copy was issued without illustrations. The cloth shows only light edgewear, with no splits or frays. The paper has toned but is not brittle or chipped. Penciled former owner's info to the ffe, otherwise unmarked. Hinges solid. A clean, tight copy. Mattson & Davis 20400, format 5. This cover was first used on the Platt & Peck issues. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall
