Leith: Archibald Allardice, 1809. 1st Edition . Very Good Minus. 4.5 x 7.5 inches (11 x 18.5 cm). Contemporary full sheep leather binding. Wear to head of spine, bump and short split to lower corner of front board. Rubbing to spine and edges of boards. Binding strained after the front free endpaper but solidly bound. A few occasional marks to text but otherwise a nice clean example. Lacking the frontispiece and plates 6 and 7, although these appear to have never been bound in. Plates 1-4 are on two fold-outs, plate 5 is a separate fold-out. Several woodcuts within the text. Lacking leaf Pp1 (pp445/446: Final page of appendix and forst page of Index.) A scarce early 19th century cookery title. Comprises of three parts: I. The Complete Confectionery pp1-175; II. Pastry, Baking, Pickling, Sauces etc. pp176-242; III. The Family Cook 243-423; followed by appendix and index. Scarce. Bitting p72. Oxford p137. Overall condition is Very Good Minus. Size: 4.5 x 7.5 inches (11 x 18.5 cm). Hardback.
