Inscription to front endpaper. Ink stains to a few pages. Pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, with moderate foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards have been heavily rub worn with heavy shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a heavily frayed and spine ends are crushed, with some small splits and chips. Splitting to spine joints and ends. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

Acceptable. 853 p., clean and unmarked--pastedowns have labels indicating that book is part of an inheritance received by former owner in 1910; both boards are detached from text block, and leather covering is abraded--and missing from spine; sewn signature for pp. 849-856 is detached but rest of text block is firm. 4to; paper strong and only mildly age-toned but foxed. This rare work deserves rebinding.
