New York: John Wiley, 1848. Reprint of 1848. Very good in rebacked 1/2 red leather and it's original, blind embossed, red cloth covered boards with five gilt rules on the spine with no text to identify the title. A 12mo of 7 1/4 by 5 inches with a Brooklyn (New York?) address written on the front paste down and an early prior owner's name and date (1849) written in pencil on both the first and second free end pages and a penciled quotation written at the top of the fly title page. There are a few inconsequential marginal dampness stains with the body of the text block. Pasted to the bottom of page 53 is a short newspaper notice of a 3 pound 7 oz. Long Island trout having been caught with a penciled date of March 20, 1851. Page 60 is missing the print for approximately 20% of the page a problem caused during the printing process which was not caught before binding. The contents are largely free of foxing and tanning. Handsomely bound in 20th Century half-calf leather over marbled boards (v. gently rubbed on edges), with raised bands and gilt lettering, gently sunned on spines, o/w. in fine condition. A very pleasing copy of the 2nd Tegg Edition (Coigney 33).

The 18th century binding of full calf has been recently rebacked to style, new front free endpaper.On the front pastedown is a pictorial bookplate in the manner of William Nicholson. A bit of foxing here and there. Covers rubbed at the corners. Very good.

This fourth edition i considerably enlarged. Hawkins brought together both the seventeenth-century classic by Isaac Walton with Cotton's addition. Illustrated with plates and woodcut illustrations in text, including two plates of engraved music. Early inscription on front blank. Front hinge cracked, else very good.
