Professionally recased with full brown polished calf and debossed decorative dentelles as well as gilt rule; 5 raised bands and gilt particulars to spine. All edges gilt. Illustrated with many black and white hors texte plates and illustrations throughout text. Occasional spotting throughout, primarily to plates. Wear to exterior edges and small losses to leather on boards (see image). vi, 512 pp., [ii] 6 x 9 3/4 inches.
