About This Item

Ibaya Senzaburo, 1847. Very Good. Plate number 97 from the series. Polychromatic woodblock print measuring 8.75 x 13.25 inches. Vibrant color with black margins nearly complete (slight loss at bottom edge and top left). Small perforation, the size of a chickpea, at left side (see detailed photo), negligible nicks at lower right margin. Slight soiling in the inset vignette, top center. Withal, a bright, dynamic print. The triumph of Utagawa (1797-1861) refinement is represented in this tableau depicting the pathos and downfall of samurai Kagekiyo and his daughter.
