The Etude & MTNA, 1901. Early Printings . Clothbound Hardcover. Good Plus. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. A unique, privately-clothbound document containing a pair of articles drawn from early 20th-century music publications. CONTENTS: [1] Comparative Piano Methods, a discussion of approaches to piano-playing technique, first appeared in Volume 18 of "Music: A Monthly Magazine Devoted to the Art, Science, Technic and Literature of Music" (1900; William Smythe Babcock Mathews, Editor) and was later serialized in two issues of "The Etude" (1901). [2] Modern Methods of Music Teaching (by a distinguished Detroit-area music pedagogue), a transcript of her presentation given at the 24th convention (1901) of the National Music Teachers Association (held in Put-in-Bay, Ohio), was subsequently printed in the Association's newsletter, "The Messenger". 12 + 8 pages. CONDITION: A solidly-bound Good Plus copy with moderate edge-/corner-wear and a bend/crease in the upper-right corner, its interior clean and unmarked, with a hint of age-tanning. This rare item is now in a clear, protective polypropylene bag.
