London: Printed by C. Whittingham, for T. Heptinstall, 1797. Hardcover. Near Fine. First edition thus. 12mo. ix, [15], 347, [1], 91, [5] pp. 19 cm. Issued with a separate title page for *A New Version of the Psalms of David by N. Brady and N. Tate* (H.D. Symonds, 1796). In contemporary straight grained black morocco, double fillet gilt borders on both boards, gilt turn-ins, gilt spine title, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Owner's name and address in neat ink on the front paste down. With an attractive contemporary dark red morocco bookplate: "Charlotte Godwin 1798," in gilt, with double fillet gilt borders and decorative motif, on the front pastedown. Corners bumped, with moderate scattered foxing to the text pages, else a beautiful, fine copy, with an interesting early American bookplate. The Godwin family was one of the first to settle in the Eastern Shore region of Virginia. Scarce. *OCLC* locates only one holding.
