About This Item

Cleveland: Arthur H. Clark Company, 1910. Hardcover. Very Good+/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Facsimiles and Photographs. Tall octavo bound in blue cloth with spine titles and decorations stamped in gilt. Copyright 1909; 1910 date to the title page; no additional printings. 434 pages. Top edge gilt; the others deckled. All illustrations present with their tissue guards. A lively, well written account of Rodgers' part in the formation and endeavors of the early American navy, with much on his tenure on the "President". The cloth shows only light wear at the extremities, with just the hint of a fray at the top of the front gutter. Hinges solid; binding square. A clean, tight, unmarked copy. A very nice example of the fine volumes produced by this Cleveland publisher.
