Folio, 35cm, first edition, (ii),350,(ii),216,(ii)pp., [Volume 5 in 2 parts]. with 3 title pages each with large heraldic vignette, printed in double column, original full vellum, real raised bands, contemporary hand written spine title (perpendicular), some slight worming to endpaper at the gutters into the boards, (not in the text), binding slightly dust worn, two chips on the spine, a very good to fine copy. Text in Latin. (Ds1). ~ The fourth volume & fifth volume (in two parts) of a five volume collection of Canon Law the laws of the Roman Catholic Church. Prospero Fagnini (1598 1678) was an eminent Italian canon law lawyer who served the Popes for 50 years. First published in 1661, his five volume "Ius canonicum seu commentaria absolutissium in quinque libris Decretalium." was noted for bringing clarity to the complex and often disputed Canon Laws.
