"The story of early Montana with some material on the road agents of Henry Plummer's gang and on the vigilantes." - Adams. Written by Cora R. Myers, wife of Peter Myers, second vice-president of the Chicago, Milwaukee, & St. Paul Railway. Her best known literary work was this booklet. It includes brief histories of the Louisiana Purchase ("Bargain Day for the United States"), the Lewis & Clark Expedition and Sacajawea, the Vigilante period, and the transition from Montana territory to state and several other topics. Includes photography, drawings and poetry. She describes staying in Three Forks, "to waken each morning to the music of the hammer and the saw-a ceaseless refrain in Three Forks - and to feel the faith and hope of her people." The Myers ranched and homesteaded near Twin Bridges. Montana. After Mr. Myers died in 1908, she homesteaded on her own at the Bonny Boon ranch.Reviews
